The VT ET IN PE E department develops power electronics for electric vehicles. One focus is the integration of SiC-based semiconductor devices. This integration includes innovative design concepts such as the Encapsulate Mold Compound (EMC) of the SiC power modules and their reliability assessment.
Your new challenges:
- Thermo-mechanical simulations using 3D-FEM
- Thermo-mechanical modelling of the materials used, especially the EMC
- Production of material samples and material characterization EMC
- Thermo-mechanical stress tests and statistical evaluation
- Microstructural Analysis
- EMC Material Selection and Lifetime Model Creation
Your profile:
- Completed Master's degree in physics, materials science, electrical engineering or comparable qualification
- Programming skills, e.g. Python
- User knowledge of ANSYS desirable
- Enjoyment of experimental work such as sample preparation and microscopy
- Basic knowledge of semiconductor device physics desirable
- Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
- Independence; Analytical thinking and creativity

Within the framework of this freelance doctoral position (20 hours), the possibility of a doctorate is given and desired.
