Vitesco Technologies is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join the Basic Software team at Auburn Hills, Michigan. You will be part of our global, diverse team that is responsible for developing complex real-time embedded software solutions for our conventional and electrified powertrain control applications.  

Core Responsibilities:

  • Embedded C programming and development from low-level drivers up to application API
  • Analyze stakeholder requests and write requirements for software functions
  • Design and develop software components for both conventional powertrain (gasoline engine, diesel engine, transmission) and electrified powertrain (48V BSG/ISG, HEV, PHEV, BEV, FCEV)
  • Estimate and define microcontroller resource assignment per SW architecture and coding guidelines
  • Propose, plan and implement software changes following V­cycles for multiple projects in parallel  
  • Integrate, test and document software through different phases of lifecycle following defined processes

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate actively in project technical synchronization board meetings and change control board meetings
  • Participate actively in requirement reviews, design reviews and code reviews
  • Participate actively in quality gate reviews and quality assessments
  • Estimate project tasks and track planned and actual efforts
  • Define and execute overall and final testing for production releases
  • Investigate and solve urgent and complex problems and evaluate alternatives
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by lessons learned and best practices
  • Contribute to agile working model with flexibility and can-do attitude

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
  • Hands-on experience with programming in C and assembly, multi-core microcontrollers and its peripherals
  • Hand-on experience with testing tools such as simulators, debuggers, logic analyzers/Oscilloscope
  • Ability to read and understand PCB HW schematics
  • Ability to systematically solve problems and perform root cause analysis
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and drive projects forward to meet delivery deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
  • Knowledge and experience with multicore microcontrollers
  • Knowledge of MISRA C, Automotive SPICE, IOS26262 standard
  • Other programming languages such as python, Java, Visual Basic, Perl
