General Information

Project Manager for Generic serial development projects & component application development / serial projects within 2-wheeler & powersports BU.

Project Manager to lead and manage a project within the specified time, budget and functionality (scope) framework (= quality triangle) to the satisfaction of the customers, ensuring economic success for the company and profitability of the product over lifetime.

Dimensions/Organization/Magnitude: The Project Manager is an entrepreneur within his/her organization.

Full control of released project budget and project resources per approved project plan. Make-or-buy decisions. Team membership. Project deliverables. Acceptance of project inputs. Planning of the project in terms of timescales, work packages, work breakdown structure, resource requirements. Set priority of work within the project, in order to achieve time, cost, quality targets. Final decision on project changes. Escalation of risks and issues to the immediate PM-Executive/Manager (next LM) and/or affected BU Line Manager.

Your Key Responsibilities

Product Development and Delivery

Project Initiation and Planning:

  • Define project targets (financial, scheduling and scope) = quality triangle              

  • Selecting project core team members in conjunction with the line management

  • Establish adequate project organization (meeting structure, information/ knowledge exchange, documentation, archiving). 

  • Help build up a supportive culture of cooperation and teamwork within the projet

  • Tailor optional activities according to the projects needs and ensure compliance to the processes.                                                

  • Develop and maintain the Project Plan in accordance with the valid processes (phases, deliverables, gates, etc.) throughout life of project. Achieving the agreed project objectives. Assign Work Packages to Project Team members."                  

  • Perform Risk Management activities, control and steer the implementation of risk items.

 

Steer Execution and control project                                                               

  • Verify the schedule from suppliers and understand impact on overall project timing and budget. Get feedback from experts about requirement fulfilment from supplied components (e.g. Initial Supplier Inspection Report / PPAP).                                        

  • Evaluate performance of team members in accordance with line management. Actively manage and optimize the use of resources on project. Assigning work packages to the project team members (delegation and direction).

  • Coordinate and control project activities, track the project progress, define corrective measures, if deviating from the Project Plan.      

  • Control the usage of the released project budget and project resources per approved Project Plan

  • Regularly report the project status in accordance with the valid tool and process set

  • Actively manage stakeholder expectations, inform and involve stakeholders on a regular basis and in an appropriate manner.                                                                                        

Improvement / Maintenance                                                                                                        

  • Involve purchasing at an early stage to ensure lowest "Total Cost". Bill-of-Material is achieved at a given performance.                                                                                

  • Involve operations at an early stage to ensure that the product is designed to minimize manufacturing cost and maximize quality.                                                          

  • Manage lifecycle maintenance for parts and modules (including Warranty and cost reduction), unless this is handed over to another resource.

Representation of project at customer, negotiate with customer and suppliers

  • Representation of project in customer meetings.

  • Representation of project-interests in supplier meetings.

  • Based on change management negotiate changes and claims with the customer and with suppliers.

  • Protect confidentiality of project data.                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor / Master in Engineering any specialization

  • 10 years’ experience in the automotive or consumer electronics industry in a variety of functions.

  • 2-4 years as individual Project Manager or 2-4 years leadership experience in the area of Project Management or Technical Project Leader.

  • Experienced in the role of project leadership / functional leadership of a team with the minimum size of 6 employees from different disciplines over a period of minimum 4 years.

  • Has worked as a team member in international team.

  • Knows the Product Life Cycle, the PM Processes including PM Supporting Processes

  • Financial Issues Management

  • Knowledge on project target costing and profitability analysis

  • Proficiency in coordination of financial aspects (e.g., EBIT tracking over project lifetime, handover to operation, capital request knowledge, influence of Project P&L)

  • Knowledge on production technology and processes

  • Planning, Controlling and Reporting    

  • Selection and negotiation methods for Resource Management

  • Project Documentation Management, Project Configuration Management and Project Organizational Management

  • Change Management and Problem Resolution Management- Estimation the impact of changes in requirements on time, cost and technical functions.
