The Legal Counsel Data Protection (d/f/m) is member of the global Data Protection Team at Vitesco Technologies and works closely together and reports to the Head of Data Protection. The Data Protection Team is Vitesco Technologies’ central data protection organization and responsible for the management of all data protection related projects and operations. Based on profound data protection knowledge (EU GDPR and other relevant data protection legislation), the core activities comprise defining binding policies, giving practical and legal guidance concerning data protection by templates, tools and checklists and on a case-by-case basis. The Data Protection Team is responsible for the setup and maintenance of the Data Protection Management System (DPMS), for data protection audits and the management of the global network of data protection coordinators in the departments and subsidiaries of Vitesco Technologies worldwide.

Your new responsibilities:

• Providing data protection-related legal advice and support to projects and business process owners
• Observation and analysis of legal developments as well as examination of the relevance for the Vitesco Technologies Group
• Evaluation of legal claims and official letters and derivation of legally necessary instructions/recommendations/ for action
• Preparation of data protection-relevant documents and the review and negotiation of data protection contracts
• Management and coordination of tasks related to data protection incidents and breaches and data subject requests as well as managing the intragroup company agreements concerning data flows between entities of the Vitesco Technologies Group
• Advising the data protection coordinators (DPC) and supporting in the management of the DPC network in Germany and abroad
• Developing and holding data protection training for data protection coordinators, business process owners and staff members
• Supporting in data protection compliance audits and preparation of internal reports
• Supporting the implementation and improvement of the Data Protection Management System (DPMS), including internal policies and processes
• Supporting in the development of a data protection strategy
• Helping to implement data protection policies and overseeing operationalization, e.g. by setting up guidelines and internal rules concerning the data protection governance

Your qualification:

• Completed university degree in law and admission to the German bar
• Long-term experience in the field of data protection, preferably in a larger organization or international environment (law firm, Big Four, company)
• In-depth knowledge of data protection law (GDPR, German Federal Data Protection Act) and data protection management
• Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
• Solution and risk-oriented and pragmatic counselling style
• Flexibility, teamwork, independent work style
• Ability to communicate appropriately to different target groups
