Mission / Job Description / Responsibilities

Test Designer is in responsible to design, specify, procure, and maintain the methods and tools required for development, verification, and validation of electronic components (ECUs & integrated products containing electronics).  To complete his mission, TD works in close cooperation with the Component/Subsystem Architects and Project Engineers.  Primary work for the Test Designer in BGL will be related to electronic controller products (eDrive Control Unit, eDCU) for electrical machines in the 2-wheel vehicle market.  Secondarily, this person will also support test aspects on components for traditional internal combustion engine systems for the 2-wheel market.

This person will be responsible to perform key activities and generate key deliverables for test of electronic hardware components:

  • Assesses product requirements (segment, platform, customer) and creates verification & validation plans appropriate for the component.
  • Specifies, orders, validates, and maintains load 'benches' for verification & validation activities.  Supports users of benches with issues, understanding, change requests.  Light Benches & Breakout boxes may be used by software developers, Application teams, plant and field quality Engineers, and other partners.  Validation bench design may include specifying load cards to fit standardized systems or interfacing with vendors to design custom systems.
  • Specifies, orders, debugs, and validates TSW (embedded test software), VAL (embedded validation software), Coredo sessions, security keys.
  • Creates mission / operating profiles consistent with verification & validation objectives
  • Interact with New Product Launch / Industrial Engineering team members to ensure Design for Manufacturability concerns are addressed with the design outputs.
  • Support Change Management: Analyze & estimate impact of new & changed requirements, focused on all aspects of the hardware: cost, size, time, effort, validation activities, mfg test, etc

Requirements / Qualifications

  • You have a degree (at least Bachelor, Or Masters) in the area of Electronics / Electrical Engineering
  • You should have sound knowledge on Manufacturing process of Electronic assemblies for automotive environments.
  • You should have sound knowledge on test concepts for Electronic and Electromechanical assemblies the scopes of development, validation, and manufacturing.
  • You have gained several years (3+) of experience in design & development of products to automotive standards
  • Proficient in standard office software tools: Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
  • Proficient with electronics laboratory tools: oscilloscope, DMM, function generator, power supply
  • You are fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • You have strong analytical skills and excellent communications skills
  • You show initiative & are motivated to work in a project team environment to collectively achieve customer focused goals
